My emigration experience

I'm from Guatemala, my country is located in Central America.  I was born in a small village far way from Guatemala city, but the civil war that faced my country 36 years ago, pushed my family to move to different places.
My father had to immigrate to this country because he was persecuted by the army from my country.  He always says, "If the government of  the U.S. weren't interfere with Guatemala I would still living and working there."
The immigration for my family was one way to survive from civil war and poverty and like us many people from my country have had to moved to this country because the consequences of the civil war, there were a lot of people killed and more missing.  Many people lost their lands and their families.  For that reason people emigrate to this country was and has been one way to deal with poverty.
In my own experience,  I came to this country because I want to look for better opportunities in education, I was not running away because of war or poverty, but I decided to come because I wanted a new life, improve in my education and know other places.
Mi experience living in this country at the beginning was frustrated because it was the first time that I moved from my home to another place totally new.  Language has been one of the biggest challenges that I have to faced every day so far, and of course the technology and modern life that many people can afford or access in the U.S. compared to a contry like GuUatemala where people sometimes don't have money to buy their food, has been  a cultural shock for me. But the wonderfull experience that I have been living here, is extraordinary, I love to meet people from different countries,  I enjoy to learn about other cultures and I think this is a positive and enriching issue.
I wonder many times, why many people from western countries can travel and live without problems in our countries, while we have a lot of limitations and barriers to do the same.
Immigrate should be in my opinion a right for all, not just for a privileged group, does not matter if it is for pleasure, education or others reasons.
